An idea for controlling aphids…

I read the most interesting article in the Almanac this morning.  It is about controlling aphids.  What intrigued me the most was that it mentions that sprinkling flour on your plants will constipate aphids; thus removing the problem.  I dusted all my squash plants this morning, plus my catnip, watermelon & canteloupe plants.

We’ll see how this turns out!  I certainly found this to be interesting…

Spring Update!

Well, I’ve successfully started peas, cinnamon basil, eggplant & three varieties of tomato thus far along with some flowers & other herbs.  I had some starts that didn’t make it; but that’s to be expected I suppose.  My peas are doing very well holding up (we’ve had some moderate wind recently).  I also had three starts from parent plants that self-seeded last fall.  I culled it down to just one; I’ll see how it does.  It will be a hybrid; I grew multiple varieties of tomato last year & the gardeners around me likely grew other varieties as well (many of which are likely hybrids themselves).

Right now I’m just happy my peas are doing well!
